COMMUNITY CENTRE, ACACIA AVENUE, KIRKBY-IN-ASHFIELD

Ashfield District Council received National Lottery funding for the redevelopment of the community centre on Acacia Avenue in Kirkby-in-Ashfield. The existing community centre was part demolished, refurbished and extended to 2006 building regulations standards. The new community centre will offer a flexible multifunction space with catering facilities for the local community to use and also includes the local radio broadcaster Ashfield Radio's studio, workshops and offices.

Energi Consulting Services Ltd provided a full M&E design and management services for the project. We looked to include as many low carbon technologies as was feasible, the main factor which limited the scope for these technologies was the threat of vandalism. We did however manage to incorporate ground source heat pump, air source heat pumps, high efficiency lighting and controls, water recycling system and high efficiency heat recovery ventilation system.
